Mindo
So me and two classmates decided to make the 3.5 hour bus trip northwest of Quito to a little town called Mindo this weekend. We left around 7 on Saturday morning and got there bright and early to check into our hostel. It was a nice little place and very fairly priced at 15$ a night. First we made our way to a gondola that took us over a valley to some trails with a series of beautiful waterfalls that ranged from 15 to 50 feet. Then we made our way to do some zip-lines above the forest canopy that were about 100yrds each (we only did 3). We later made our way to an awesome organic chocolate factory/restaurant for a tour and dinner where the menu consisted of most things chocolate, like chicken with chocolate sauce, for example. I also had some very delicious ginger beer that was made right at the restaurant. After the fantastic dinner we picked up some Pilsners and went back to the hostel to play some farkel and cribbage. As for Sunday, we slept in as long as possible (loud animal noises and thin walls = 7:00) and made our one stop of the day at a butterfly farm. The farm was pretty cool for a while but I could only stand swarms of butterflies for so long.. My favorite part was the crazy colored cocoons because they reminded me of metapod from Pokemon…
-anyways, check the pics
