Roommate Advice!

For most of the freshmen, this will be the first time living on their own and/or with a roommate. In order to find a good roommate and have a good year with that person I have a few tips!

First of all, in order to find a good roommate, you can use the css facebook page for your class and post in it. You can adverstise that you are looking for a roommate and share your interests, background and habits. Other students will see and you may find a roommate that share the same passions you do!

Second of all when you find a roommate, contact each other ahead of time. Discuss in advance what you like and don’t like, how you think the year is going to be like in the room, share your expectations and who is going to bring what into the room. Make sure to discuss habits, who wakes up early or who goes to bed very late, who likes to have a lot of guests in the room and who doesn’t etc.

Third of all, when you meet your roommate, define clear boundaries and rules for your room. This will avoid unnecessary conflict that may arise in the future. Always remember communication is key! And if you are having problems with your roommate, you can always ask your RA for help!
