Ugly Sweaters and Shakespeare

For our last official class of the semester, my Shakespeare class decided we should all bust out our Christmas sweaters! Everyone looked super fun and festive. Our Professor wanted to make the day extra fun so we did something I’ve never done in a class before: perform our own version of Shakespearean drama. Each group had to come up with characters and a plot, then we had to try and combine them all together. I think everyone was really skeptical of how successful it would be but it turned out to be a great laugh. There was magic, marriage, curses, progressive rulers, and some Shakespearean lines thrown in. I played “Frederick”, a young duke who has to marry a hideous woman because I lost a bet. However, I was cursed by the Queen to always tell the truth and it results in me hurting everyone’s feelings including my fiancĂ© who leaves me, and I then get to marry the love of my life. I also broke a curse with my honesty and helped another character come out to the world. Basically, it was a (hilarious) hot mess.
