    Tayler's Bio:
My name is Tayler and I was an English major/biology minor at the College of St. Scholastica! I have lived in Duluth all of my life so I know all the best local restaurants and hiking trails. On campus, I was involved with The Cable, Bella Voce, the Northstar Reports, the McNair Scholars Program, Student Support Services, and the English & Arts Club. Off campus, I volunteered with Mentor Duluth and enjoy throwing theme parties with friends and family.

Poet Laureate of Duluth

For my creative writing class we are required to write a reflection on a poetry or short story reading. Today, Duluths new Poet Laureate was crowned! I had the opportunity to watch Ellie Schoenfeld of Duluth be honored for her involvement in the local literary community. In addition to being published in journals and anthologies, Schoenfeld is a co-founder of Poetry Harbor, has served on the board of the Spirit Lake Poetry Series, has facilitated a monthly writing group in the Federal Prison Camp, and conducted a series of writing workshops with an HIV positive support group. Schoenfeld seemed super excited to be accepting this honor and made a lot of fun jokes in between her poems. Most of her work had an air of humor to them while still contemplating meaning of life topics. This was a cool event that I was glad to be a part of!
