Grad Cap Decorating
Almost as traditional as commencement itself is getting together with your friends to decorate graduation caps! We stocked up on glitter, stickers, and all things scrapbooking, ordered some pizza and got to work. The most fun thing about grad caps is making them personal to you. Hamilton was huge this year and my friend Karissa fell in love with the music, especially the line “I am inimitable. I am original.” In addition to her love of the music, this line totally describes her as the unique and awesome individual she is. Another friend hand-drew a graduated cylinder that says “Now we are both graduated!” This is perfect for her as her major and passions are in the sciences. I had trouble figuring out what my cap would be. I am a Harry Potter Enthusiast, video game nerd, and English major. The possibilities were endless! After a lot of thinking (and Pinterest) I decided I should go with a Disney theme. I could watch Disney movies for ages without getting bored of them and I’ve had several Disney-themed parties. I chose Peter Pan and the idea of never growing up because some of the things I love most: theme parties, cartoons, computer games, macaroni and cheese, are pretty childish. Even though I am moving closer to adulthood, I want to maintain my “childish” loves forever, and that’s why this cap perfectly describes me!
