    Tony Barrett

    Professor of Economics
    Northeast U.S.
    Ph.D., George Washington University

    Tony's Bio:
A bio is always hard to write at my age (think grandfather). I have taught economics for 31 years, the last 21 at CSS. For four of those years I was the school's Athletic Director adding track and field and Nordic skiing, and laying ground work for football and women's hockey. I am married with two grown children. My daughter is working on her PhD in Chemistry as the Univ. of Chicago and she is the mother of my grandson, which is pretty cool. My son is a screen writer in LA. Eight of his scripts have been produced. He is also a licensed private investigator, which is odd.

Summer’s Over

Students are showing up on campus and it’s tougher to find a good parking place. The fall athletes, Resident Advisors, Peer Mentors and others are starting to show up for training. That means it is time for me to start writing my syllabi for my courses.

When I started teaching, I was pretty careless about a course syllabus. Now, they are seen as a contract with the student and require alot more detail. That means: alot more work and thinking. My Principles of Macro class is easy since I have taught it about 100 times. My Dignitas class is close to impossible. So, for now, I’m ignoring it.
