Study Groups!

Tuesday, March 7th, 2017

Tonight I experienced my first ever study group! I feel that I probably should have experienced them before now, but better late than never! I was studying chemistry with two of my friends that are in my dignitas class. We met in the ground floor suites lounge with our backpacks and laptops, sat around the big wooden table and got to work! We sat in the lounge for an hour and a half to two hours doing chemistry. We stayed focused and got quite a bit of the assignment done; the assignment isn’t due until the end of the semester so we have some time, but we want to keep up with lecture. I probably couldn’t have accomplished as much as I did without the help of my study group. No matter what the class or what year you are in in school, study groups are helpful and fun!

Studying Techniques

This week is a crazy one for me. I had a physics test yesterday, a biochemistry exam tomorrow, a couple lab reports due, and all of the normal homework we normally receive. Sometimes it can be easy to get overwhelmed but I’ve learned a couple things these past few years that help to make me successful. The first is to not procrastinate, this seems obvious but sometimes it’s the hardest to do. Spend an hour or two studying the week before a test and it can make a huge difference. Take advantage of all the resources you have, including fellow students. My favorite way to study is with a study group, you can have fun while accomplishing a lot. And lastly, try to take breaks from studying to relax and have fun. Without giving yourself a couple minutes away from school you can get stressed out easily.
