Spring Break!!!!

Wednesday, March 7th, 2018

Well I got home yesterday afternoon after class, and then I packed my bags and went down to the cities with my mom.  We stayed in a hotel in the cities overnight and today is the day of traveling!! Our first plane left Minneapolis at 6:20am, talk about early birds today.  We are supposed to touch down in Florida at 11am, which is so awesome because it gives us the whole day to explore and settle in!  I’ve been trying to work ahead on homework all week, but I still have some things to do over break.  Good thing I have plenty of time to work on things in the evenings.  I’m actually very glad that this week will be so extended for me because I could really use a longer break.  I will keep you all posted in my journey on the beach in Florida, and I hope everyone has a great rest of their week!!!

What am I Doing for Spring Break?

Thursday, March 16th, 2017

But what spring break do you speak of? The one that almost all other CSS students are participating in and doing cool things during? Oh that one. Yeah, I’ll be student teaching. So when you are student teaching, you follow your elementary school’s schedule, not your college’s. I’m definitely bummed because for the past 2 years I’ve spent my spring break on the PIFT, doing community service across the country with a bunch of people. Going on the PIFT had become annual way of pausing and enjoying life and reflecting. It’s definitely a mindful week. It feels weird not being with all my friends. Last year, we all added each other on Snap Chat, so I have been watching everyone’s stories as they road tripped to Boulder, Colorado. It’s definitely a senior-moment, because it’s one of the first things I won’t be doing anymore as I graduate. I won’t be a “college kid” anymore. Putting a disclaimer out there though; my elementary schools actually has two, 1-week breaks, so I can’t be completely sad. I have one extra week off than my friends and I’ll get to take advantage of it to job hunt!

Choir Tour 2017: Murray State University

Wednesday, March 15th, 2017

Said goodbye to Nashville this morning and headed to Murray State University for a day of choral clinics, networking, and sun. Our first stop was the on-campus burrito shack for some lunch where we sampled some sweet and spicy salsas. We used our hour of free time to visit the Arboretum, a park and greenhouse, then headed back to campus to perform a few songs for the Murray State Choir and hear a few of their pieces. After singing we attended the Murray State softball game that our directors sister coaches for and cheered our hearts out.
