Pros and Cons of Bunk Beds

Sunday, February 12th, 2017

This school year I have experienced two beds, one that was on the floor and one that was bunked. Currently I am on the top of the bunk bed and throughout the year I have found many pros and cons to it; let’s start with pros. First bunk beds save a LOT of space in the room, making the room much more functional. Second, climbing up and down is like a mini workout in the morning; plus it kind of stretches your feet! Now I shall share the cons of the bunk bed. First con, if youre on the top you have to climb up and down; it’s a pro and a con. Second, it can be very difficult to make your bed after washing your sheets (I seriously broke a sweat today making my bed). Third, if your bunk mate moves around a lot in their sleep, you might be able to feel it if you’re a light sleeper. While yes there is one more con than there is pro, I personally think that saving space counts as two, so the pros and cons are even in my mind. Ultimately it is up to you, your personal preferences, and what your roommate wants also; but no matter what you choose, all of the beds are comfortable!

Throughout my time at CSS (including both graduate and undergraduate) I have had the opportunity to live in multiple settings. Freshman year I was in the mandatory Somer’s building with all the other freshman. Sophomore year I was in the Kerst apartment at the back of campus. Junior and senior year I lived in a house within a mile of campus. This past year and currently I have been living at the Boulder Ridge/Summit apartment complex within 2 miles of campus.
