Guide to applying for SAPD Funds

Tuesday, February 27th, 2018

I did not know about the CSS Student Academic Professional Development(SAPD) Fund program until last week when I met with one of my CIS professors to talk about an independent study project that I am doing. Somehow, during the discussion, I mentioned a conference I was interested in attending and how I did not have enough funds to travel to the location and participate in the conference. It was then that I learned about St. Scholastica’s SAPD Fund program which students can request to obtain funds that can cover presenting at a professional conference, attending leadership training sessions, visiting an exhibit related to major, or a significant performance opportunity, etc.

Aaron T. Rose

Monday, January 4th, 2016

I had the wonderful opportunity of writing a feature story on Aaron T. Rose, a CSS graduate, this past fall semester. I have been writing and working for The Cable for over one year, and this story is one of the greatest pieces I have been a part of. Although I have never met Aaron in person, I got to know him through a phone conversation and some of the people who support and surround him. He is an extraordinary individual who pursued life in Egypt for a few years after graduating from CSS; this included working as a photojournalist in a war-torn Egypt for some time. Aaron can be an example to many students at CSS, myself included. He has pursued and accomplished so many amazing things at a young age. The support from CSS has been present in his life during his time at the college and beyond. Aaron is currently back in the United States awaiting a heart transplant. He has received incredible support from friends around the world and CSS faculty alike… Read more about Aaron’s story in The Cable.

About Blogging

Saturday, January 2nd, 2016

For just over one year now, I have been blogging here for The College of St. Scholastica. It has been one of the coolest things I have been able to do in my time at CSS. I absolutely love sharing my experiences with prospective students, the community, and whoever else may stumble upon our blog’s pages. I believe it to be a wonderful thing, opening up our lives to those who are interested in CSS. This school is a marvelous place filled with numerous opportunities to learn, to explore, to befriend, to adventure, to grow, to include, to experience, and to wonder. Being a part of this blog has allowed me to share my encounters with these different opportunities, and it is has truly been something wonderful. Cheers to a new year of blogging, to new experiences, and to sharing these wonderful things with others.

It’s Back to School

Sunday, November 29th, 2015

It’s back to school on a Sunday for Malvern, Tasha, and myself. My car was full of Saints on our way back to Duluth; I had the opportunity to help both Tasha and Malvern out by giving them a ride. Our drive was quite relaxing, a few chats here and there, but it mostly consisted of Adele’s melodic vocals coming through the speakers. It was fun getting to know a couple more of my fellow classmates a bit better. Overall, Thanksgiving break was relaxing and productive. I am ready to finish out the rest of fall semester.
