Let’s make some small-talk

Thursday, March 28th, 2019

Let’s talk about the weather. It is said this year has broken some records in terms of the most days below freezing temperature (around 60?), the coldest couple of days (about -50F with windchill) and the most snowfall in the month of February there’s been in years. A very quick google search has not entirely verified this gossip, but I do know for a fact that last time we felt warm air outside was around early October, there were a couple of days in which classes were cancelled due to the freezing temperature (it was the first time it happened since I’ve been here; reports of ~ -50F with windchill are, in fact, accurate) and there’s been A LOT of snow since Christmas until warm temperatures (now anything above freezing feels mildly warm) began to melt the snow about a week and a half ago (yes, it’s virtually April).

Duluth Spring Weekend

Sunday, April 23rd, 2017

This weekend was filled with a lot of adventure and activity. The weather was absolutely beautiful for all kinds of outdoor plans. Below are a few pictures that I captured this weekend as I enjoyed the outdoors in Duluth with my friends and girlfriend. With such great spring weather I am excited for summer to get here…we might have to wait a few weeks. The weather outlook is showing 3-5 inches of snow on Thursday. Crazy how you can get a sunburn one day in Duluth and a couple days later you have to put your snow boots back on!

Lakewalk Run

Saturday, April 16th, 2016

It was so nice outside today that I decided to run on the lakewalk with my dog. It’s a little colder by the lake but the sun made it nice. I feel so lucky to go to a school that is close to the biggest fresh water lake in the world.

Hartley Park

Monday, July 13th, 2015

On my quick trip to Duluth to move into my new house, my friend and I spent a few hours exploring one of my favorite parks in Duluth: Hartley Park and Nature Center! We brought my friend’s dog, Dakota, with us, too. She absolutely loved it there. Her sniffer was on high gear the whole time and she loved running through the steams and taking drink breaks. She’s a German Shepherd Dog and Labrador Retriever cross, so being in the water is second nature to her. After an hour and a half of hiking the Superior Hiking Trail through Hartley, we stopped at Hartley Pond to throw the ball for Dakota. Although, she was so tired from the hike that she couldn’t swim very well. It was awesome to see her so exhausted – there isn’t parks like this in Fargo for her to explore!

Romantic Camping in Duluth?

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

Yesterday as I was scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed I saw a post called “Romantic Camping Destinations in Minnesota”. Of course, I clicked on it, guessing the North Shore would make an appearance on the list. Lo and behold, it made the top two spots! The first being Gooseberry Falls State Park and the second Tettegouche State Park (Note: the article spelled Tettegouche wrong). I’ve been to both quite a few times and I think there is good reason for them to be on the list. However, I think I would switch the order and place Tettegouche above Gooseberry.
