International Students: Winter Grocery Shopping

In the dead of winter and without a car or easy means to get to the mall or Kenwood Shopping Centre, international students often struggle to get groceries. Luckily, the Office of International Programs  (OIP)organizes trips each week for students to carpool and get their groceries without worrying about transportation. The dates usually vary and recently OIP sent out a survey to find out what times are ore convenient for those who need to get groceries. On campus, there is a Food Shelf that all students can make use of in case they need to refill their food supply or for other reasons.

OIP Christmas Dinner

Last week (of last year!), I met with three other international students on campus to have dinner with Cherrie, from the Office of International Programs (OIP). Each year, OIP organizes a meal and other events for international students staying on campus over break or living in the Duluth area. At Cherrie’s house, we played board games and talked for some time before heading back to campus after a fulfilling meal.

International Education Week

Last week, CSS celebrated International Education Week – a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the US.
