In the News

Friday, September 30th, 2016

This year, I am acting as Business and Advertising Manager for The Cable, St. Scholastica’s student run newspaper. For this week’s blog post, I want to share with you how our beloved campus newspaper makes it from the minds of our writers to the paper in your hands.

Story Writing for The Cable

Wednesday, November 18th, 2015

I am sitting in Storm’s Den now, after finishing up the final details of a story I have been working on for just over a week now. This Friday, it will be printed in the papers that will be distributed around campus. I am glad The College of St. Scholastica community, and whoever else The Cable reaches, has the chance to learn his story. I am so honored and excited to have been a part of writing this marvelous feature about one great individual. Although I have not been actively writing this semester, there was something about telling this individual’s story that I simply could not resist.

Tuesday Nights, Cable Nights

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015

Tuesday nights are for Cable meetings. We meet each week at 7pm in the Science Building to discuss story ideas for the next weeks paper, organize photography assignments, and brainstorm together. It is a fun time with a great mix of people. On the Cable team, we have people from all corners of the St. Scholastica universe. I have been a part of the Cable for just over a year now, and this year I have transitioned from a writer to a photographer who sometimes writes. It has been a healthy switch for me. In addition to enjoying what I do personally for the Cable, it is cool to see the new members of our team really diving in and getting involved with whatever aspect of the Cable they like.

ACP Convention

Thursday, June 25th, 2015

Now that I’m Business & Advertising Manager for The Cable, I have a little more say in the goings on. For awhile now I’ve been organizing a trip to Minneapolis for the ACP (Associated Collegiate Press) summer workshop and today it finally became official that we are going! Yay! This workshop is structured around becoming a leader in your publication and strengthening your publication’s content. There will be four of us Cable staff going. I’m so excited to see what we can learn and take home to the rest of the Cable staff this fall. We are planning on big changes and stronger journalism skills for the Cable all around. The workshop is July 9-12 so it’s coming up quick.
