Space Movie Night

Sunday, April 30th, 2017

Tonight for Mayfest there was a showing of the movies Space Between Us and Star Wars: Rogue One in the science building. It was really kind of surprising how few people showed up for both of the movies. I could kind of understand it because there was a lot of other things going on but I think for both movies there were less than 15 people. The movies Space Between Us was pretty much how I was expecting it for it being basically and teen romance movie, so it was very cheesy. I was much more excited to see Rogue One because I wanted to see it back in December but every day while it was in theaters it was sold out in my town so I never got to see it until tonight. And with the small audience was especially surprising for Rogue One because there was only about 8 of us who stayed and watched the whole movie. I really liked Rogue One for the most part and it definitely worked for a Star Wars movie. The only thing that really bugged me was the ending of the movie because they really only needed like 5 more minutes to perfectly tie it together with Star Wars: New Hope, and because it was such a small difference it was kind of annoying.

Beauty and the Beast

Tuesday, March 28th, 2017

Tonight my friends and I went to go see Beauty and the Beast! It was a great break because I haven’t done anything social for a few weeks. It was a wonderful movie and we found ourselves singing the whole way home! We have started going to the Hermantown theater because although both theaters have $5 movies Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, Hermantown is a little less crowded.

Movie Night!

Friday, February 24th, 2017

Last night after working at Caribou on my edTPA, I met up with some of my friends at Vitta Pizza. Afterward, we took advantage of student discount tickets at the theater because it’s Thursday. Woot woot to Thursday $5 movies and free popcorn! I had been dying to see the Lego Batman movie, which did not disappoint. With my student teaching schedule (and sleeping schedule), I really haven’t had time to fit in many social things, specifically with my friends who have opposite schedules of me. Because I’m on break, I’ve had way more time. It feels amazing to reconnect with friends, but I’m also a little sad because it’s the end of break and I’ll be back to the old schedule again.

Joss Whedon Sing-a-Long Double Feature

Monday, September 26th, 2016

My boyfriend and I, nerds that we are, decided to attend a Joss Whedon double feature at the Zinema. Joss Whedon is the director of many shows and movies, including Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog and Buffy the Vampire Slayer; the two that we watched tonight actually! The Zinema is right downtown and for $10 each, we got tickets to the show and a small popcorn. We also got a prop bag. I’ve gotta admit, we weren’t even close to be “into it” as much as the rest of the audience. Everyone else knew every word and sang along, suprisingly well I might add. The props were like fake vampire teeth, bubbles, and even underwear. So yes, prop underwear was being thrown around beach-ball-style during a laundry mat scene. It was unsual and we had fun, but we aren’t exactly sure if we would do it again? I guess we can decide in two years when it comes back!

Movies in Science

Friday, September 9th, 2016

Tonight were the Movies in Science! Every month or so, starting with the first few weeks of school, CAB has big movie showings in the Science Auditorium. These movies are usually new releases and have free admission. They also provide popcorn, candy, and drinks! Tonight the movies were Now You See Me 2 and Tarzan. My boyfriend and I went to see Now You See Me 2. Considering my boyfriend just became a Saint, entering the Graduate Teaching Licensure program, he hadn’t experienced our 56 Nights events quite yet. He was really impressed by how big of events get put on for free for us. The Movies in Science are always a great time and a large amount of people always show up. One of the quirkiest things about it is that everyone brings blankets or pillows to cuddle up to while watching the movies!
