No Writing Class Today

Wednesday, December 6th, 2017

Today I didn’t have my writing class because it was a workshop day to work on our big final report papers. And it was really nice because I got to sleep in a bit and now have to worry about getting to class on time. Now in this free time given I didn’t work on the report paper, I instead worked on a bunch of the other papers I have to do so then later today and tomorrow I can work on finishing up all the parts of the report paper. So that will be a fun thing to look forward to tomorrow.

Research

Thursday, March 30th, 2017

Today was really great because I didn’t have any classes because instead of going to my management ethics class we were assigned to look into Enron and figure out all the steps of how they went wrong. And we were set up with a few things to use like an article and a documentary to watch but we also have to do some research on our own to be able to write a whole reflection paper next Tuesday. I actually really like doing research so doing all that extra bit of work to get everything I need will be easy for me. I really liked basically having the day off as well because my ethics class is the only class I have on Tuesdays and Thursdays so today I really got to relax and do a bit of research as well as prepare for a couple of tests I have tomorrow. I do have to find some time this weekend to watch the documentary but I think the reflection paper will turn out just fine.

Speaker Matt Johnson

Thursday, March 9th, 2017

Today Matt Johnson came to talk about his business that he started called GeaCom and the companies main product that they make called Phrazer. And Phrazer is a device created to help people better communicate with doctors about health issues they are dealing with and might not be able to understand English or just to help get things across better to doctors so that they don’t miss diagnose the patient. And it was really cool to see how excited he was about his work and it interesting to see how he sees his business because unlike all the other speaker he started his business from the ground up instead of coming into owning the business from someone else. I really like that he came up with the idea of the Phrazer because he was doing work for other companies and saw how hard it was for people all over the world to communicate with each other and how each place in the world runs on different ideas and he tried making a device that helps to meet everyone somewhere in the middle. And it is so cool that the Phrazer works to bridge that gap between doctor and patient and helps to get to treating a patient a lot faster because all the problems for the patient are laid out for the doctor now sometime before they even see the patient so they can focus on just caring for them and every patient can get the same treatment.

Speaker Lisa Bodine

Thursday, February 23rd, 2017

Today there was the speaker Lisa Bodine went and saw for my management ethics class and she was really interesting. She is the President of Giant Voices, Inc. and she came and talked a bit about how she got to the position and what running a business sort of entails. And Giant Voices Inc. is an organization that helps in doing some strategic marketing for other companies, which means they help brand a company and gets them on the right track for success. I really liked when she brought up that her companies values are ambition, creative, excellence, passion, and fun, all those seemed like really great ideas especially when she discussed each of them in more detail and explained how each value fits into the company. Then she talked a lot about leadership and what makes a good leader which was not a lot of new information for me because it was things like go get involved, and find the things you like. But it was still really interesting to go and listen to her talk.

Accounting Class Jeopardy

Friday, February 10th, 2017

Today was a fun day in my accounting class, to help prepare us for the first major test we have to take we played a game of jeopardy. The class I’m in as well as the other accounting class that meets at the same time got together and made it into a bit of a competition with it being one class versus the other. I was so much fun with all the variety of different questions and the fact that the game ended with such a close score. But in the end the class I’m in pulled ahead and won with a score of 1700 points to the other classes 1500. So, in the end, everyone in my class got an extra ten points free on the test.
