Free Henna!

Thursday, November 24th, 2016

The Muslim Student Association and the International Club collaborated together to host an amazing and very popular event on Friday. The International Club offered different types of teas to the students as well as goodies. At the same time, the Muslim Student Association offered free Henna to the students. Honestly, I was surprised how popular the event was. At first, we just had a line of students. We realized the line was only going to get longer and students would not have time to drink tea. Also, there was only one person doing the henna. Members of both clubs quickly figured out alternatives to make the process much easier. We gathered names of those who wished to get henna on their hand by order. They then signed an agreement form and then pursued to getting tea. in a time of about two hours, nearly seventy students enjoyed their henna. It was such a successful event. The best part was when we did the mannequin challenge while people were waiting for their turn. 15218719_751802314960867_2130441822_n

Fifa Tournament

Thursday, November 17th, 2016

This past Monday, the International club hosted a Fifa tournament at one of the nearest rooms of tower, the Intercultural Center. Students were notified of the tournament through email. As a board member of the international club, I made sure to provide snacks for the competitors as well as making sure there was more than one console in order to keep the tournament running. We found a website online with brackets. We were able to put everyone’s names and the website randomly organized the games. The tournament was all elimination. If a person lost, they were out but if they win, they would go against another winner. I made it all the way to the semi-finals but unfortunately lost in penalty kicks. Two of my great friends made it to the final round. the game was intense as everyone watched and cheered. The game ended in a 1-0 with the winner earning himself bragging right and a gift card from SuperOne. 15126025_747937868680645_55849631_o

On Campus Tours

Tuesday, November 15th, 2016

Application season is around the corner – more like in season! This past weekend, I bumped into several groups wide-eyed high school seniors visiting campus and learning more about CSS! It was exciting hearing the guides explain to them some of the things that go on in college. It was more fascinating to hear some students asking questions. I never had the opportunity to visit CSS – I just applied and boom, flew across the big pond a few months later and here I am! For most international students who cannot make it to visit campus prior or during application, I advise you to check out the school on Google Map/Earth, social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter (the school is amazingly active on twitter), Instagram, this blog …and so forth.
