International Club hosts annual Black Tie Event

Tuesday, February 27th, 2018

Each year, the International Club hosts a Black Tie event where students can show up, all dressed up and ready to take photos, enjoy a free meal, play games, and above all interact and socialize! This past weekend, many students made it all the way to Somers Main Lounge, through the heavy snow! The club promised an elegant dinner, chocolate fountain, mock tails, desserts, games, and a great time and my friends, who attended the event, were glad to have gone and got all these in one night! The International Club does a lot of great events on campus and I wish I could partake in these as often I am either on the road or swamped in work elsewhere!

Culture Night

Sunday, November 19th, 2017

Last Friday, the International Club in conjuction with the Asian Student Union held its annual Culture Night in Mitchell Auditorium. I remember in my freshman year when I took part in the Fashion Show of the event. Last year, I did not participate, but like this year, I got to witness the various backgrounds and identities celebrated at CSS through poem, spoken word, music, dance, and many other art forms. As always, after the event, we got a treat from India Palace, which serves really good food that I like.

International Club Host Soccer Tournament

Thursday, April 13th, 2017

The International Club has just created a new tradition on campus. The club board members reached out to the international clubs in Lake Superior College, the University of Minnesota Duluth and the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The purpose of reaching out to the international club from local colleges is to unite international students on a Sunday afternoon in order to get to know each other and build a community while playing soccer. There was a total of 7 teams each with an average of twelve international students. The saint Scholastica team was able to only have one team, Umd had 2, LSC had 2 and UWS had 2 teams. We were able to organize the tournament at the BWC and booked two basketball courts.

Tonight, International Club put on an event called Culture Night. It is a really fun event where students perform dances, songs, and poetry readings that deal with their culture. They also have a fashion show of their traditional dress from their country. Here is a picture of one of the performers doing a traditional dance from her country.
