Math Party + Final

Wednesday, December 20th, 2017

Today, I got done with the last of my finals!! This was for my Abstract Algebra class, taught by Dr. Ren. We only had to do a group discussion and present our findings. One of the best parts was that Dr. Ren brought lots of food (orange juice, bagels, and other snacks) and another student brought a box of donuts! What a nice way to end the semester and finals!!

Mardi Gras!

Wednesday, March 1st, 2017

Had fun celebrating Fat Tuesday with a Mardi Gras party at the Newman house near campus. There was tons of free food, party favors, and a Polaroid photo booth. The Newman house is dedicated to providing a space for college students to worship and to volunteer their time and energy to help the community. While they are a Catholic group, they welcome students of all denominations and are very friendly to new visitors. I have only attended a few events and services but have always had a good time despite not coming from a very religious background.

Vinegar Valentines

Tuesday, February 14th, 2017

Yesterday for my Pre-Raphaelites class we made Victorian Era Vinegar Valentines. A vinegar valentine is a Valentine’s Day card men or women would send to people they didn’t like. For example, the card I made pictured above would be sent by a woman to an unwanted suitor. This type of confrontation was usually considered socially unacceptable so you only had one day out of the year to tell people what’s what. Even on Valentine’s Day they were usually sent anonymously. They also sent normal, loving Valentines but making this one was more fun!
