Summer Green Thumb

Tuesday, May 30th, 2017

My girlfriend and I recently stopped by Cummings Greenhouse, located on W Arrowhead rd. in Duluth, to pick up some vegetables for the summer. We decided on tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, basil, and cilantro. We tried cucumbers, peppers, and green beans last year but they became challenging with out limited space. It is fun to tend to a garden and have a little bit of responsibility of watering and tending to the vegetables throughout the summer. We also thoroughly enjoy when we can harvest our veggies and incorporate them into our meals.

We used to have the craziest garden here and for the past couple of years we haven’t had one. This year I decided that with everything going on, it would be a good idea to start it up again. Our garden used to be huge and we had one half for flowers and the other half for fruits and vegetables. Most of the time bunnies would get into some of the stuff and usually only left the beans haha. Our sunflowers were so cool and would get huge! I already have the area all ready to go and now today we’re going to do some errands and pick up the rest of the stuff we need for the summer :). I’m excited to have something take my mind off of all the other things!

Got to check out a greenhouse today and prep some flowers, plants, and herbs for spring time! Right over the bridge into wisco. They take care of them until spring too.
