North Shore Hiking

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

I was invited by a 1st year DPT student and good friend to join him on a  Saturday morning hike up the north shore. The destination was Twin Lakes Trail (6.8 mile trek) near Silver Bay, MN. We got up there early for the sunrise, however the overcast conditions were not favorable for one of the famous north shore sunrises. Despite the overcast conditions, the weather was nice for hiking and the wind was calm. In addition, my buddy likes outdoor photography so our hike was stop and go as we took time to take in the breathtaking views of the north shore (see below).

Last Day Before Spring Semester Starts

Monday, January 16th, 2017

Knowing that today was the last day of Christmas break I decided to go out fishing with one of my teammates that I played baseball with at CSS. We went out to Fish Lake Reservoir, approximately 25 minutes from Duluth. It was an early morning wake up call (5:30 am), that got us out on the ice and fishing by 7:15. It was a chilly morning with a beautiful sunrise over the lake. It turned out to be one of the nicest winter days Duluth has seen this year. Although we only caught 2 fish, 1 crappie and 1 northern pike, we had an absolute blast. It is always nice to enjoy the great outdoors in and around Duluth and do some catching up with a good friend.

Great College Friends

Wednesday, January 11th, 2017

During your college experience you will meet many life long friends. Many of the people I befriended in college love sports and/or were in similar classes as myself. In graduate school it has been the same song. Myself and my girlfriend (both in the physical therapy program at CSS) as well as a classmate/good friend and her boyfriend recently took advantage of our winter break by cheering on our Green Bay Packers in their first playoff game against the New York Giants.

Over Thanksgiving break, I had a friend visiting me all the way from Indiana. My friend Joel goes to the Univerisity of Southern Indiana and we had last met the previous year while in Zimbabwe. This was his first visit to Minnesota and I had the pleasure of giving him a small tour around CSS. We had Thanksgiving together and I plan on visiting Indiana soon to return the favor!

Dog in the Apartment

Thursday, December 1st, 2016

I made a bold decision bringing my family’s dog up to Duluth following Thanksgiving break. I thought it would be a good idea to bring Kirby up to spend 4 weeks in the arctic tundra of Duluth. So far so good.
