Christmas Feast

Wednesday, December 11th, 2019

Every year, the college organizes a Christmas feast at GDR. It usually takes place around these dates, and it is always free for all St. Scholastica students, faculty, staff and their families! Food is always the same: turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy, cooked vegetables, and breaded ravioli with marinara sauce. The ravioli were definitely my favorite! They never fail to make my night. It was quite charming to see faculty and staff having a great time with their families. This is what Christmas is about!

International Education Week

Thursday, November 21st, 2019

Once a year, the school celebrates the value international diversity brings to the school in “International Education Week”. Today, as part of the events, we got to enjoy free food at the Greenview Dining Room. More than an actual celebration of international diversity, it was really just a fun occasion to come together and enjoy internationally themed food. It was quite the banquet!

Philosophical Events

Tuesday, October 1st, 2019

Yesterday, the Philosophy department organized a get-together. It was an informal gathering simply geared towards mingling with the faculty and having an excuse to engage in casual conversation about philosophical topics. We bandied possible movies to watch during the semester, discussed last week’s lecture on reparative justice, and chatted about the experience of being a professional philosopher. It is quite a nice life: you get paid to think about the things which interest you. In truth, how could any job be better than that?

Free Chili

Saturday, September 21st, 2019

Homecoming is here! And with it, a weekend full of activities, free food and events. Today, the school organized a free dinner at Storms. Chili (with meat or vegetarian), cheese, diced onions and a wide array of sweet desserts. A nice opportunity to take a break from studying (or in my case, celebrate finishing with the first round of exams), and socialize!

Psychology Colloquium

Thursday, September 19th, 2019

Today the psychology department held a colloquium! Which in normal-speak simply means that we had an academically related meeting. It was primarily aimed at sophomores or other students who are beginning to get involved in the department, but it was a good opportunity to interact with the faculty and learn about convenient events for everyone. As a matter of fact, it was a productive time for me too, a graduating senior! Oh, and there was free lunch 🙂
