Storms Den

Wednesday, February 21st, 2018

For those that have been on campus for tours, Storms Den is the dining and study area where most students gather.  Storms Den is open all the time, but the food part has specific hours.  The food here is much more fresh and fast as compared to a buffet style of eating like GDR is.  Storms is definitely one of my favorite places to go during the day if you want to see people.  For people who like to study in the quiet, it’s maybe not the most ideal place to be.  I usually like to either study at home or in the Benedictine Commons because it’s much more quiet there.  I sometimes don’t mind working on mindless homework in Storms because then I can get distracted more and still be okay.  To change subjects to food, I really enjoy the food at Storms compared to anywhere else.  I haven’t eaten here in quite a while, but it is always very very good!!

Meal Prepping

Sunday, January 14th, 2018

Meal prepping has become more and more a part of my routine, especially with a full-time internship that requires a 30 minute commute both ways. It is a HUGE time saver and stress reducer. It allows me to get in some extra studying and time to exercise each evening. There are so many easy recipes you can find online that guide what groceries to buy and how to cook specific foods. The best part about meal prepping is that you can choose the foods you enjoy to include in your meals! This weekend my girlfriend and I spent some time in the kitchen preparing meals for this week. We ended up with nine healthy meals for the week that we can just stick in the microwave to heat up and then enjoy. The ingredients we used were quinoa (can substitute rice), corn, black beans, tomatoes, shredded cheese, cilantro, grilled shrimp and grilled apple brats. I think the best part of all is that it looks yummy too!

Einstein’s Bros Bagels

Tuesday, November 28th, 2017

I’m writing this blog while I sit by the window of Einstein’s Bros Bagels, eating a Cinnamon Sugar Bagel with Honey Almond Shmear on it and drinking a hot, Skinny Vanilla Latte.  I didn’t know what today’s blog was going to be, until I realized that I was really enjoying my time just sitting there and eating the delicious food with a good view.  Einstein’s food can be paid for with dining dollars or regular money.  Personally, I don’t eat here very often anymore because I don’t have dining dollars, but every once in a while I think I deserve a treat.  It’s really convenient to have this little place here in Science where there is no other food options available.  This is just a lovely reminder to sit back, and appreciate all that you do have in life. 🙂 I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
