Packing up!

Wednesday, May 15th, 2019

One of the most shocking things I’ve experienced in the US as an international student is how quickly they kick you out of the dorms after you finish finals. This is the third time I experience it, and I still don’t get used to it. The worst part is that it seems to be common practice, and the fact that they charge you significantly to stay additional nights is only more aggravating.

Thesis

Monday, May 13th, 2019

I am officially done with my thesis capstone! I submitted the paper on Thursday. Some concluding thoughts: it’s been a different experience, it’s satisfying to work on something for a whole year, I wouldn’t want the same project to extend any longer.

End of the Year

Saturday, May 4th, 2019

It is difficult to grasp how quickly Spring semester goes by. You are well-ingrained in your routine, the snow is still there, your professors ‘clearly exaggerate’ how quickly the semester goes by, and all of a sudden, within the span of a week, the snow clears, you are studying for your final exams, and you realize you haven’t made any arrangements to store your belongings for the summer. It has taken me three years to recognize professors are right in emphasizing how quickly this semester goes by, but I am convinced the stark weather transition that happens between late April (around freezing temperatures + snow) and Early may (40’s and no snow) is fully responsible for the psychological shock it keeps bringing. It is now (quasi-)officially summer!

Room Check-Out

Thursday, April 27th, 2017

In the past, end-of-the-year room checkouts occurred just as you were checking out and had everything completely packed. Everything pretty much had to be packed and right next to the door. This year, they did it a little different. We had to have a sign-up time with our RA this week so he could check out any damage we had in the apartment. It was kind of weird. We didn’t have to pack up at all we just had to be clean. Our RA just checked our room half an hour ago. This was also our 1-on-1 time which was kind of different too. Normally we meet in their room or our room and talk 1-on-1, but this time he just chatted with us as a group. This is one more step closer to the end-of-the-year and graduation!

Done With Classes

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016

As of today,  I am actually done with all of my classes for the year (and my undergraduate career)!  That is really exciting because then I can focus on my two final projects.  Because of the extra time in my schedule,  I am also working a lot more to get in extra hours.  I am just trying to wrap everything up before graduation, which is coming up really soon!
