Last Night of Swing Dancing

Last night was ariels night at the UMD Swing Dancing Club! I am thrilled that UMD continues to collaborate with St. Scholastica for awesome activities like this. In swing dancing, ariels are stunts and lifts. They are a really fun way to add some flare and personality to your dancing. We still had a regular lesson to practice some dips and turns as well but it was exciting to see everyone getting out of their comfort zone with lifts. There are quite a few Swing events coming up as well so there will plenty of opportunities to show off the new moves I learned.

Ballroom Dance

Friday, November 18th, 2016

This year St. Scholastica has teamed up with University of Minnesota Duluth for Ballroom Dance Club. The Club meets at the Minnesota Performing Arts Center at the UMD on Thursdays from 8pm-10pm. This club has been a great way for me to meet new people, get some exercise, and learn some cool dance moves. So far I have learned swing dance, triple step, tango, foxtrot, and cha-cha. Some of the club members take professional lessons at the Lake Superior Ballroom in downtown Duluth and many members choose to enter collegiate dance competitions. I have learned a lot in my short time with the club and might consider entering a beginners competition this year!
