Have you seen the sun lately?

Sunday, October 7th, 2018

It has been dreary weather after dreary weather in Duluth. I am sometimes at loggerheads with myself when it comes to deciding what to wear when the weather forecast reads like “sunny in the morning, rain in the afternoon, icy winds and non-stop cold in the early evening“! Not to despair, next week it’s expected to be sunny – at some point late in the week. In the meantime, the challenge is to stay as warm and dry as possible! I have slowly started to resurface my winter coats and gear as fall season seems to have lasted as long as snow in the Sahara. As I miss the bright sun more and more, I am reminded of the Bright Lights program run by the CSS WellU office. (more…)

Edible Book Competition

Monday, March 6th, 2017

This is my third year participating in the css library’s edible book competition. In the past I’ve done Dr. Seuss “Oh the places you’ll go” and Nancy Drew “The Secret at Shadow Ranch.” This year I chose the Wizard of Oz. The base is made of homemade rice crispies and frosting, the yellow brick road is made from frosting and starbursts, the emerald city is made of celery, and I have an airhead rainbow with marshmallow clouds. It took a few hours to make and was a lot of fun. Voting starts Wednesday and they announce the winners on Friday. I’m really hoping I place in the competition!

3rd floor library

Thursday, November 17th, 2016

Because I live in Kerst, the furthest apartment on campus, I dislike going home after classes. In the beginning of the year, I would go home straight after my classes. I soon figured out I was not as efficient as I could be. It is very distracting to be at home in my opinion. I would spend an hour or so of unproductive work once I arrived home, so, therefore, I tend to avoid going home after my courses. Instead, I choose to go to the library. The third-floor of the library is my secret study weapon. It is very quiet, lots of open seats, and a great view. In my opinion, it is the best part of the library. Every time I look up, I am admired by the structure of the library and all the picture frame artworks which I believe it aligns15064987_747945285346570_220012157_o well with our Benedictine College.

FREE Books!!!!

Monday, April 18th, 2016

Since last week, the Library has been dishing out fantastic books for cheap and for free! Imagine buying a book for 25 cents!! Or getting it for free a day later!! I went to the library with a friend on Friday and we picked up books of choice. Today I went back again and got more books!! From politics through religion to health and literature – you name it! The challenge now is to read each and every one of them…over the summer of course! I am excited about this and I am wishing it was summer already (for my sake because it’s been really overwhelming with school work lately – I need the break, desperately).
