First Day of Igniting CS in Duluth!!

Wednesday, February 7th, 2018

Today, I officially launched a program I designed a year or so ago to introduce young Duluthians at Lincoln Park Middle School to Computer Science. I co-led the first session with Daniela M., a Computer Info. Systems and Finance major in her second year at CSS. Both Dani and I did not know what to expect and were very glad that the program went well and the kids were excited about the opportunity. We will be volunteering again next week and for three or four more sessions after! If you are a student interested in opportunities that may not be available on campus, there are many ways to get the support of faculty and other members of the college to pursue your goals. I am thankful for the contributions and opportunities that have come with this program and am looking forward to many exciting sessions ahead!

Code in Duluth

Thursday, December 21st, 2017

Today, I met with a representative from Lincoln Park Middle School to discuss and plan on initiating a program to help get more kids interested in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) and introduce them to Computer Science. I am excited about the possibilities ahead and the impact this work might have on the lives of not just one but several young Duluthians. I have been working on this project for almost a year now and look forward to finally implementing it!
