Independent Study

Monday, April 1st, 2019

One of my favorite things about the psychology department is how accommodating and eager to help you accomplish your goals professors are. One of the limitations invariably accompanying small universities is the breadth of courses a department can offer. The psychology department does a surprisingly good job covering all the subfields in psychology (social, cognitive, abnormal, clinical, developmental…), but for those cases in which students are left craving to delve into a specific topic, the department offers a virtual panacea: the ability to carry out an independent study. In my case, I seek to pursue a Ph.D. In cognitive and affective neuropsychology, so this is exactly the tittle of one of the courses I will take next semester!  I will make arrangements with the appropriate professor (a cognitive neuropsychologist), and I will follow the coursework we come up with after discussing the goals and expectations I have in undertaking an independent study. Talk about ideal courses!

Spring Registration …

Tuesday, October 24th, 2017

Excited to say I have registered for Spring semester classes this evening! I had meetings with my advisor last week and decided to take 3 Computer Info Systems classes, 1 Math class, and an Honors class. This way I will be left with only 1 CIS class to complete my major requirements and 3 Math classes to complete my Math major! Lots of planning ahead but I am excited about the progress I have made so far. I am in the Honors program and have to complete 3 more Honors classes to fulfill requirements. I am hoping to have these classes cover my general education requirements!

Class Registration Problems

Thursday, June 1st, 2017

I think I’ve mentioned this earlier, but I hadn’t been officially accepted into the M.Ed. program here at St. Scholastica until a few days ago. Because of that, I wasn’t able to register before. As soon as I got in officially instead of just provisionally, I tried to register… but I couldn’t. It said my PIN was invalid. I’ve spent the past few days trying to troubleshoot it with OneStop and other departments, but with Memorial Weekend it was a really long process. Since classes start next Monday, I’ve been incredibly nervous I wouldn’t be able to register in time! My online adviser got back to me after the long weekend and solved the apparent two issues with my registration. I’m signed up and ready to go (just kidding I’m missing one textbook still).

Registration Week!

Wednesday, April 12th, 2017

It’s that time of the year when anxiety is up a notch for this writer – registration! I am excited that I will be a junior next year, but anxious that time is passing by too fast. As I look over my course schedule, I realize that I still have quite a courseload on my shoulders and that it will not be getting any easier from now onward. In four more semesters, I will probably look back at this post and reflect on how things have changed. I only hope it will be a reflection that will make me happier!
