“Lighting A Tradition”

Wednesday, December 6th, 2017

Yesterday, St. Scholastica kicked off the Christmas season with the annual Advent Vespers service in the Queen of Peace Chapel on campus, followed by the “Lighting a Tradition” tree lighting ceremony and the President’s Holiday Party in the Benedictine Commons.  After the service, students, faculty and staff from the College as well as other members of the community in attendance joined the Sisters for a brief ceremony featuring Christmas carols and a countdown to the lighting of the tree in front of Tower Hall. As tradition, there was hot cocoa and cookies in the Tower foyer for all to share!

Bentleyville

Sunday, January 15th, 2017

Bentleyville is one of my favorite events in Duluth in the winter! It is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit! If you do not know what Bentleyville is, it is a Christmas light show located in Bayfront park down by Canal. It is a free event that runs November 19th-December 26th. It is run off of donations and volunteers! However, parking is usually $5 if you want to park close! You walk through light displays with different themes while Christmas music is playing and there are free cookies, hot chocolate, popcorn, and marshmallows to roast! There are also many opportunities for pictures! So you must grab your friends or your special someone and check out the 4 million lights around the 20 acre park!
