Christmas Feast

Wednesday, December 11th, 2019

Every year, the college organizes a Christmas feast at GDR. It usually takes place around these dates, and it is always free for all St. Scholastica students, faculty, staff and their families! Food is always the same: turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy, cooked vegetables, and breaded ravioli with marinara sauce. The ravioli were definitely my favorite! They never fail to make my night. It was quite charming to see faculty and staff having a great time with their families. This is what Christmas is about!

On Friday, the “Christmas City of the North” parade took place in downtown Duluth. Once a year, every year, the city organizes a Christmas parade that runs on Superior Street. In it, numerous entities from the area such as the UMD, local businesses or organizations and nearby education centers prepare a dance alongside music of their choice. The whole event lasted over an hour, and I must admit  I was quite impressed by the effort and dedication the city invests in this event! And I was even more surprised to learn that Merv Griffin’s “Christmas City” song is, in fact, dedicated to this very parade!
