Mardi Gras!

Wednesday, March 1st, 2017

Had fun celebrating Fat Tuesday with a Mardi Gras party at the Newman house near campus. There was tons of free food, party favors, and a Polaroid photo booth. The Newman house is dedicated to providing a space for college students to worship and to volunteer their time and energy to help the community. While they are a Catholic group, they welcome students of all denominations and are very friendly to new visitors. I have only attended a few events and services but have always had a good time despite not coming from a very religious background.

Ash Wednesday

Wednesday, February 10th, 2016

Today is Ash Wednesday. For those who are Catholic, the school offered an Ash Wednesday mass on the chapel this evening at 5pm. I ended up going to the cathedral at 6pm with my girlfriend because it fit better in my schedule.

Ash Wednesday

Wednesday, February 18th, 2015

Today is Ash Wednesday, and also the first day of Lent. Lent will last for the 40 days before Easter and is a time of opportunity to deepen your faith, and challenge yourself to become a better person. Many people will give up sweets, soda, or fast food. Other’s will take a vow to stop cussing, criticizing, and gossiping. Whatever you choose to do during Lent it should ultimately bring you closer to God. Our campus is Catholic affiliated so the school recognizes Ash Wednesday, Lent, and Easter. The campus offered two mass times today, one at 11:45AM and one this evening at 5:00PM. If you see students walking around with a cross made from ash on their forward and are wondering why they have it, now you know!
