Student Employment

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018

One of the great things about the College of St. Scholastica is the opportunities for student employment on campus. As I look back over the past 6.5 years of time I spent through undergrad and grad school, I’ve held six student employment jobs. These jobs were essential in providing me with the ability to pay for books, food, gas, rent, etc. The jobs I held include student blogger, teaching assistant, statistics tutor, game management personnel, team laundry, and assistant baseball coach. Other opportunities for students include storm’s/green view dining room workers, library assistants, Help Desk staff, BWC staff, intramural referee, grounds/maintenance, admissions representative, tour guides, etc. The possibilities are endless and you need only do a bit of searching and ask. Every college student enjoys a bit of extra cash flow coming in and there is really nothing quite as convenient as on-campus employment. Not to mention the hours are pretty good and the department/employer is always understanding of student obligations. Another perk is being able to put these jobs on your resume. Be sure to look into what you can do to earn money during your time as a student at St. Scholastica.

My 3 Best Study Spots at CSS

Thursday, June 22nd, 2017

I now have 2 years of college under my belt and, hopefully, now know a little bit of what works and what doesn’t – if not, I have 2 more years to figure it out! Studying is very essential to success in any academic program. Studying alone does not help! One needs other remedials such as discussions, practice, and so forth. In the same vein, studying can be meaningless if one is in an environment that does not promote learning and stimulate the mind. I have discovered quite a number of environments on campus amd I’d like to share with you my top three! (more…)

St. Scholastica St. Paul Campus

Wednesday, June 7th, 2017

I currently have an internship with the State of Minnesota in the Department of Employment and Economic Development. It came to my surprise that I work a couple of blocks away from our St. Paul Campus. It was pretty neat to see what other campuses we have and how close I am to it every day. We have a grand total of nine locations of where we are located. Our main campus is in Duluth. We also have some in St. Paul, St. Cloud, Rochester, Brainer, Grand Rapids, Cloquet, Inver Grove Heights, and Austin.

Fresh Coat of Snow

Tuesday, February 28th, 2017

There’s a fresh coat of snow over campus today! As lovely as it’s been to have the warm weather, that’s also meant a lot of mud and slush. All this fluffy, white stuff however is just the stuff we need for skiing, snowman building, and angel making. In addition to all the fun activities, it sure makes the giant pines on campus look beautiful. Last time we had this good of a snow I built a 7ft tall snowman with some friends. Maybe this weekend we will go for 8ft!
