Listening Session at the Monastery!

Monday, April 9th, 2018

I had a wonderful opportunity to attend a listening session at the monastery this evening. With 10 other students, we got to share our perspectives on being a Catholic at CSS and how the college can better meet our needs and provide a platform for student to grow in their faith journeys. A lot of ideas were shared, over pizza and drinks, and I look forward to find out how the college incorporates some, or best – all, of the amazing ideas that were shared! There will be another listening session tomorrow at the monastery from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The Lenten season begins!

Wednesday, February 14th, 2018

This evening, I stopped by the Queen of Peace Chapel to join other students, faculty, and staff for the first day of Lent, a 40-day period that precedes Easter and is a cornerstone of the Catholic faith and many Christians all over the world. Ash Wednesday at CSS usually means a packed Chapel and extra seating is always needed! I met a friend who was there because it was required for a class. This year, the Lenten season begins on St. Valentine’s Day, something that hasn’t happened since 1945, and ends on April 1. I found a useful resource on the US Conference of Catholic Bishop’s website that I will try to utilize during Lent:

Campus Ministry Winter Retreat

Sunday, February 11th, 2018

This weekend, I was part of a group of about 15 CSS students participating in a retreat organized by Campus Ministry at the McCabe Renewal Center. The Center is a short drive from CSS and the building has been around for over a century! At the retreat, we explored various ways to build community and improve our prayer lives through meditation, silence, and activities such as nature walks and story telling. This was the second time I have been to McCabe – the first was sometime in my freshman year!

Mass On The Grass

Sunday, September 10th, 2017

This afternoon Campus Ministry kicked off the academic year with a Mass celebration followed by a BBQ. Unlike most of the celbrations done throughout the year, the first student Mass is done in front of the chapel on the lawn, weather permitting. Today was also Fr John’s 34th priesthood anniversary! It was great to meet and be with fellow students, worshipping and enjoying the food 🙂
