Retirement Party

Sunday, April 28th, 2019

Last Friday, The College of St. Scholastica hosted a retirement party for Dave Anstet, a professor in the Business Management department. There was food, drinks and jolly conversation. It is nice to see how appreciated professors become within their community after so many years of service, and it is even nicer to see how their community makes sure that such appreciation is noticed. The extent of my interaction with Professor Anstet was limited to a brief talk about the science of psychology, but from those who know him better, I have heard that he is a cherishable professor. The fact that I, a psychology student, am writing of him now, speaks to the breadth of his impact as a professor at CSS!

WellU at Student Activities Fair

Thursday, September 14th, 2017

Many clubs and organizations on campus converge each year at the Student Activities Fair to recruit “new blood”, get more contacts, distribute candy, spread awareness about causes, advertise events and much more! The Fair is held in the Benedictine Commons and and attracts a lot of students seeking to be involved on campus and beyond. Yesterday I went to the Fair, primarily to share about WellU programs and events as well as get more people to know about wellness and health resources available on campus.

Mid-Week Comedian

Saturday, December 17th, 2016

This past Tuesday the Campus Activities Board brought in the comedian Jeff Scheen to do a bit of stand-up and it was really great. His style was a very dark sense of humor which is right up my alley so I enjoyed it all so much. I wasn’t sure at first if I should go or not because of how cold it was outside and the fact that I was going by myself, but I decided to go and I’m really happy I did. It gave some time to get away from my roommates and do something a little different with my night. The cinnamon and caramel rolls that were offered as well were not the greatest in my opinion but still everything was really a lot of fun.

Flag Football

Sunday, December 11th, 2016

Just about every weekend for the past 2 years a group of baseball alumni get together to play flag football. We usually gather up at least 8 guys to have some friendly competition and  get in some weekend exercise. Guys usually wear their favorite NFL player’s jersey and some guys have gone as far as to wear their old high school football cleats and receiving gloves. Yesterday we were able to go up on the turf field on campus, which was beautifully covered in a fresh snowfall from the night before. We brought a few shovels out to make end zones and sidelines and before you know it we had a nice looking football field. It has been a lot of fun keeping in touch with some great friends, getting exercise, and being on our beautiful campus at CSS!

Painting Pumpkins

Thursday, October 27th, 2016

I stopped in to put away my paintings in the art room and I discovered people were painting mini pumpkins! I had completely forgotten about the event. Last year, A.R.T. Club did pumpkin painting for a 56 nights event. They had so many people come, that they gave out over 100 mini pumpkins! This year was much more low key and was kind of just an A.R.T. Club member event. I painted my pumpkin teal, but because I was so wiped from the day, that’s all I did. Now I have a cute little teal pumpkin on my desk. It’s finally starting to feel like Halloween!
