Touring In India

What a great summer it has been so far!

I, along with my beloved, have been enjoying the famous ‘Mumbai Monsoon’. The perfect time to fall in love, as some might believe. There definitely is a different tinge to the rains of Mumbai (previously & proudly known as ‘Bombay’). I have lived and grown up in this huge, metropolitan city of India. The mix of cultures, religions, customs, professions, foods, clothings and so much more is mind-blowing. The distinct languages, dialects, accents, are so unique and novel.

The impressive flavors leave tingles in your mouth hours after you have devoured. The combinations of lentils, meats, vegetables, grains and spices are simply stunning. To know how to eat and enjoy a certain dish is also considered vital to the process.

I believe, understanding one first eats with nose, then eyes, then touch, and gradually yet critically, the tongue…Is imperative!

I’m taking this platform to share one of my favorite foods from India – ‘VADA PAV’. It is a vegetarian fast food dish native to the Indian state of Maharashtra. The dish consists of a deep fried potato dumpling placed inside a bread bun (pav) sliced almost in half through the middle. It is generally accompanied with one or more chutneys and a green chili pepper. I absolutely love this dish and could a dozen of these at one go!

I hope someday all of the world makes peace over a delicious Vada Pav!
