LinkedIn: Why is it important?

Why should you consider having a LinkedIn profile?

I am sure all of us get asked, suggested, forced, in some way or the other to create a LinkedIn account. And that’s not it, the expectation is, that we maintain a healthy profile, keep updating it, add content, etc. Sounds like a whole bunch of work!

However, executing the exact same tasks for Instagram, twitter and such, comes with great ease to most of us. But folks, I speak from experience, investing a bit of your time in maintaining a LinkedIn account can multiply your exposure. Let me tell you why it’s crucial to have a LinkedIn profile.

  1. Professional Personality –  Similar to all social platforms available online, LinkedIn is aimed at defining a ‘professional personality’ for yourself. To build trust, reflect values, contain ethics, and display these facts in an appropriate manner.
  2. Connections / Networking – LinkedIn is a great place to search for and generate leads and referrals. LinkedIn has a community of professionals supporting this online connecting system to bridge the gaps for many.
  3. Information – Artists, engineers, doctors, investors, managers, CEOs, CFOs, founders, authors, writers, photographers, and people from many more occupational backgrounds are active members on LinkedIn and can be followed for insight, knowledge and career advise.

Here’s some more personal tips:

  • Create a LinkedIn profile and give a try.
  • No loss in checking it out
  • Start early and build it slow.
  • All at once can get over whelming
  • Be active. Not often but regular.
  • Browse the feed at minimum to be found.

Now go ahead. Create yours and connect with me!
