Biology with new Professor
This week, we have a new instructor for my Human Biology class – Rachel Portinga.
Besides being absolutely nervous to take a BIOLOGY course, that too with two different instructors in a single semester, I was quite shaky about dealing with different teaching styles. Have you also felt the same? When you seem to gel with and understand better when a certain instructor teaches a certain subject. Or even when a professor’s style simply doesn’t stick with you and everything seems to fly above your head. I just wanted to avoid being put into one of those situations.
However, like a pleasant surprise, Rachel has maintained a continual teaching pace while boosting the class with much more energy. She being young and obviously livelier than amazing 9-months pregnant Prof. Olson, is able to deliver as well as interact with the class a more.
Rachel has an interesting method of drawing as she teaches, and Oh boy! that has helped like a miracle. Sketching things out to understand better is a great studying and memorizing tip. Nothing elaborate or complex, just scribbles or boxes just to get the concepts cleared . . . visually!
I personally believe, visual representation help us to comprehend, retain and reproduce matter efficiently even over and after a period of time.
Hope you get to experience a great learning experience with Prof. Olson, Prof. Rachel or any other who render the same!
