Meet My Friend Dani!

Meet Dani Brown!

She attended CSS from 2014-2016 for her bachelor degree in social work. She loved the professors/faculty in the social work department. All are so inviting and willing to help in any way they can. She was a transfer student and it was a little daunting to be in classes where most students had been at the school for a couple of years already. Everyone made her feel comfortable to ask questions.

She chose to come to St. Scholastica because she had heard that CSS has an excellent social work program, and also wanted to experience Duluth with my best friend (Side note: That’s me! Dani and I have known each other for many years and we played summer softball together when we were in high school)! Also, the fact that it’s referred to as Hogwarts and is a beautiful school sealed the deal for Dani!

While she was a student, she was also on the Love Your Melon crew and ran the Facebook page for it

Her favorite things about Duluth are:

  • The hiking trails and parks that are close by, as well as the lake!
  • The atmosphere of Duluth is so inviting; I made so many friends there in two years!
  • I’m a huge fan of breweries, and there are some pretty great ones in Duluth and up the shore!

Advice for incoming students:

  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions, whether that be of the faculty at Scholastica or your fellow students!
  • Also, even though you’ll be busy with school, don’t forget to experience Duluth!
  • There are so many different fun things that I wish I would have done while I lived there!
  • Get involved with as much as you can around the school. Doing that will make it so much easier to make new/more friends and keep you busy! Plus, that always looks great on a resume.

Dani’s Duluth Bucket List:

  • Experience Spirit Mountain, both in the summer and in the winter! I hear the zip-lining is a ton of fun, as well as tubing and skiing/snowboarding!
  • Go to the Portland Malt Shoppe! You will not be sorry.
  • Do the Glensheen Mansion tour
  • The haunted house on the Irvine Ship is a blast!
  • Go to the Comedy night at the Renegade
