Being the Maid of Honor in my Best Friend’s Wedding

Back in October, my best friend got married! Dani and I have been friends for over 9 years now, we met through playing traveling softball together when we were both in high school.

Some fun facts about Dani and I and our connection in Duluth:

  • She came to St. Scholastica for 2 years to finish up her 4 years to get her bachelor’s degree in social work
  • We worked together in Duluth for about a year at the Marty Mann House for the Center of Alcohol and Drug Treatment.
  • We were both on the Love Your Melon Crew together until she graduated
  • She then worked at Northwoods Children Services near campus for the 2nd year
  • We lived together for two years, a different house each year
  • I helped put together Zach’s proposal to her up the North Shore at Zach’s family’s memorial bench

So even though we were friends before I originally came to St. Scholastica for my undergraduate degree, Duluth and CSS really enhanced our friendship further.

I was on internship in Glenwood, MN at Glacial Ridge during the time of Dani’s wedding, but I was able to plan ahead and take the Friday off for her wedding so I could go down to the cities for the rehearsal dinner Thursday night. My good friend Ally was also in Dani’s wedding and more college friends attended so it was great to be able to reconnect with people that I haven’t seen in a while. That weekend was such a blast and it couldn’t have been any better. It was so fun celebrating Dani and Zach.
