Remember me?

Hello, old pals. It’s been a while. Hopefully, you’ll forgive me; these past few weeks of summer have been such a whirlwind of sun and fun-filled days, I haven’t had a chance to stay on top of my blogging responsibilities. So, let me give you a snapshot of what I’ve been up to lately.

August 6. Experienced my first (yes, FIRST) outdoor concert experience at Bayfront Park. Have you ever gone to a concert just for the opening band? Yeah, um, me neither…[guilty eyes]. But seriously, my all-time favorite band opened for this guy, who still sounds pretty darn good for his age, and I couldn’t pass it up. Plus, it was one of those beautiful, Duluth summer nights (complete with a rainbow!) and I left feeling even more in love with my great city.

August 19-21. Hit up Chi-town for the weekend with my husband and his parents. I’d only visited Chicago once before, so it was great to have the whole weekend to really dive into the Windy City. During our visit, we took in a Cubs game…

…I experienced Cuban food for the first time, overate, and promptly fell into a Cuban-food-induced coma afterwards. Worth it.

Cuban heaven!

…Shopped Michigan Street.

…Took lots of pictures in front of “The Bean.”

…And attended a lovely, beach-themed wedding.

August 22-26. Vacation week! It was one of those perfect, wouldn’t-change-a-thing, relaxing, and recharging weeks of absolute-nothingness. I slept in, spent time with my family, hit up a zumba class, visited the Lake Superior Zoo (and had way more fun than I anticipated having), cleaned my house (I actually enjoy this), and plowed through the entire season 4 of this show on Netflix. I also auditioned for this production at the Duluth Playhouse, and was cast as Columbia! Come see me on-stage this October.

August 27. Capped off my vacation week with a visit to the great Minnesota get-together: the State Fair! I ate my way through cheese curds (twice), alligator (tasted like pork), a deep-fried Twinkie (amazing!), a reuben-filled pretzel (even more amazing!), and of course lots of Sweet Martha’s chocolate chip cookies and milk. All in all, the perfect end to the perfect week.

Now, that you’re officially caught up with me, I’m eager to hear all about YOUR sun and fun-filled summer. Drop me a line, send me an email, let me know how you spent your dog days!
