    Kathryn's Bio:
Hello! My name is Kathryn McCarrick. I grew up in Saint Paul as an only child. I am an Elementary Education major hoping to specialize in 4th, 5th or 6th grade. I chose CSS because of the vibrant and wholesome community that inspires me to be a better person every day. In my free time I hang out with friends, study and watch various Netflix comedy specials (Bo Burnham is an all-time favorite). On campus I am involved in inkeeping, where students can choose to stay with me in my dorm overnight, and the choral program.

My typical Thursday

Thursdays are by far my favorite day of the school week. This is because it is the only day of the week I do not have an 8am class. However I do have a field experience starting at 9 am so I still have to get up. I have to complete 20 hours of field experience as a part of my Introduction to Education course.

I begrudgingly wake up at 8:25 and climb down from my nice, warm bunk to the cold, hard floor to brush my teeth, eat a protein bar and make some hot chocolate. I choose to not drink coffee because I don’t like how caffeine affects my body. I call an Uber around 8:40 because they are usually all in downtown which is a 10 minute drive and then a 10 minute drive to Northstar Academy.

This classroom is insane, they have 2 teachers and 55 children in the classroom. I spend my time wandering around and helping various kids with math until 10:30 when they go to recess. The kids in this class don’t really know me yet but they do accept me as an adult in the classroom and respect me.

At the time they leave for recess, I call another Uber and head back to CSS. Where my only class begins at noon. This class is required for all First-Years on campus and is called Dignitas. Mine happens to focused around Diversity in Theatre so we watch a lot of movies, plays and musicals. If you enjoy that definitely check it out with Professor Merry Vaughan. Dignitas finishes at 1:40 and then I am home free for the day.
