Semester at Sea has begun!!
The community aboard the ship is absolutely nuts! In just the few days I’ve spent on the MV-Explorer, I’ve made friends from all over the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Egypt, Dubai, and Russia. Everyone is looking to make new friends, and as we sped away from South Hampton, England, the feeling of belonging was undeniable as all the students gathered on the 7th deck to celebrate our departure.
I’ve finally arranged my cabin (See picture), and have completed a number of orientations regarding culture aboard the ship, safety precautions, and expectations from the student body. My roommate, Lucas Mueller, is from Illinois, and fortunately, he is very much a night owl like me!
As we take to the open ocean in search of Saint Petersburg, Russia, I am filled with wonder and awe for the adventure we are to undertake together. Surely, no amount of anticipation could have prepared me for this journey.
In the meantime, I’ll chill on the seventh deck with my friends and savor the beautiful evening. 😀
