    Jacob's Bio:
I have explored a wealth of incredible opportunities and experiences at CSS. While preparing for a career in medicine, I have pursued biochemical and philosophic studies while serving as a Residential Advisor and Student Senator. My passions inspired me to participate in multiple international service-learning and study abroad events in Guatemala, Nicaragua and China. While completing a fifth year through CSS to fulfill my philosophy degree, I have chosen to explore an exciting opportunity to study abroad aboard a transatlantic voyage: Semester at Sea.

Schnitzel and Such!

ADVENTURES! Across Poland our group sped in railcars in search of famous sights and educational experiences. After Krakow and Auschwitz concentration camp, we took another night train towards Berlin. Fortunately, our accommodations included a sleeper-car, and our six friends all slept in bunks onboard a speeding train! It was a night to remember filled with laughter and some well-needed sleep!

Into Berlin we traveled where we soon found our hostel, the Generator! Our group booked a private, 8-person bunkroom for our Semester at Sea friends, and after dropping off our belongings, we took to the streets in search of German schnitzel (fried meat) and world-famous beer!  Sure enough, we had a fabulous meal with a group of 20 students with veal schnitzel and delicious beer!

After our dinner festivities, Steve, a close friend in Semester at Sea, took us to a salsa club in downtown Berlin where I danced the night away using the skills from my salsa lessons on the ship.

Salsa dancing in Berlin? Why not! 😀

Yours,

Jake

PS! In the photos, you’ll find a picture of our traveling group. From left to right you’ll see me, Vanessa, Meredith, Steve, and Nicole! Additionally, you see the schnitzel, delicious beer, and the entrance to our hostel in Berlin!
