    Jesse's Bio:
I graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and am now in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program here at CSS. I played on the baseball team at CSS for four years. I was also a statistics tutor and currently work as personal care assistant in Duluth. I love the outdoors, hunting fishing, hiking, etc. While being at St. Scholastica I have noticed the “family” atmosphere and I am truly enjoying every second of it.

The Whistling Bird Restaurant

Duluth is peppered with fun restaurants, bar and grilles, and places that have been on the TV show Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. The eateries in Duluth really help to spice up the college lifestyle and give us something other than ramen noodles to eat as we remain money conscientious.

Since I have been up on the Iron Range visiting my girlfriend’s family, I’ve taken note of some of the interesting places and sites. One that I have to blog about is a restaurant in Gilbert, MN, about an hour northwest of Duluth. It is unlike any other restaurant in the northern area that I am familiar with as it boasts a Jamaican cuisine. My girlfriend and I went here on New Year’s Eve and were extremely impressed. Their slogan, “A taste of the Caribbean on the Iron Range” was spot on with tropical drinks, jerk chicken, pork BBQ, seafood, and much more. The atmosphere was great and the servers were very friendly.

If you and your family love Caribbean cuisine or are looking for a new/neat place to eat while you’re visiting Duluth I highly recommend The Whistling Bird. It is also a great place for a date night or just a short little afternoon/evening get-a-way about 60 miles north west of Duluth!
