    Jesse's Bio:
I graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and am now in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program here at CSS. I played on the baseball team at CSS for four years. I was also a statistics tutor and currently work as personal care assistant in Duluth. I love the outdoors, hunting fishing, hiking, etc. While being at St. Scholastica I have noticed the “family” atmosphere and I am truly enjoying every second of it.

Northland Running Races

The northland is home to some of the most pristine views of Lake Superior. Trails like the Superior Hiking Trail parallel the north shore similar to scenic highway 61; the infamous first 18 mile stretch of Grandma’s Marathon. Duluth and the surrounding area has so many great places to run, walk, hike, or bike. My girlfriend and I have come to enjoy running together as a hobby. It has been something that her and I do for stress relief and just for fun. We just recently capped off signing up for races for the 2018 year and all three races are in the northland.

The first, being the Superior Spring 50K race on May 19th, up along the north shore starting at Lutsen Resort and going out and back on the Superior Hiking Trail. This will be our second time running the race. This time we also got one of my good friends to tag along in our group! Our team name…”Running From Sasquatch”.

The second, being Grandma’s Marathon on June 16th. This will be my third go at the hallmark race of Duluth. It will be my girlfriend’s 5th Grandma’s full marathon. The goal is to get her a Boston qualifying time so we will see if we can make that happen!

The third and final race of the 2018 year will be the Superior Fall 50 Miler on September 8th. Yes, I know it’s crazy. We went back and forth, back and forth on it for awhile, but ultimately decided to take on the challenge. It will be the longest race either of us has ever done. Thank goodness we are in it together. Our team name…”Last Minute Decisions”! We also have a friend who will be running the 26.2 mile race that day.

Let the training begin!

Check out the Minnesota Runner webpage to find races of all lengths in the state of Minnesota for the upcoming year!
