I was also a statistics tutor and currently work as personal care assistant in Duluth. I love the outdoors, hunting fishing, hiking, etc. While being at St. Scholastica I have noticed the “family” atmosphere and I am truly enjoying every second of it.

Last Day Before Spring Semester Starts

Knowing that today was the last day of Christmas break I decided to go out fishing with one of my teammates that I played baseball with at CSS. We went out to Fish Lake Reservoir, approximately 25 minutes from Duluth. It was an early morning wake up call (5:30 am), that got us out on the ice and fishing by 7:15. It was a chilly morning with a beautiful sunrise over the lake. It turned out to be one of the nicest winter days Duluth has seen this year. Although we only caught 2 fish, 1 crappie and 1 northern pike, we had an absolute blast. It is always nice to enjoy the great outdoors in and around Duluth and do some catching up with a good friend.

If you are an avid or just a recreational fisherman/woman and looking at CSS for your college education please know that the Duluth area has an abundance of lakes, rivers, and streams to fish. Also, if you are an out-of-state student like myself, you will enjoy the fact that the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources gives full time students in-state licenses for all hunting and fishing activities. This is awesome considering how expensive out-of-state licenses are compared to in-state. So come on up to CSS and experience why Duluth was voted the best outdoor town in America in 2014 by Outside Magazine!

My first and only catch of the day, a small northern pike.

A nice aerial view of the fishing holes we used today. As you can see we were staying warm in the pop-up tent with a propane heater!
