    Jesse's Bio:
I graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and am now in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program here at CSS. I played on the baseball team at CSS for four years. I was also a statistics tutor and currently work as personal care assistant in Duluth. I love the outdoors, hunting fishing, hiking, etc. While being at St. Scholastica I have noticed the “family” atmosphere and I am truly enjoying every second of it.

Internship Happenings

After tomorrow I will be three weeks into my final terminal internship for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the College of St. Scholastica. I am currently at Orthopedic & Spine Therapy in Poplar, WI. The first three weeks have gone really well and I am enjoying each day getting more experience with hands on treatments. I am also learning a lot thanks to some set aside time for one on one skill practice with my clinical instructors.

Today I got to travel to Minong, WI to the Jack Link’s corporate office to discuss plans of providing department supervisors with stretches specific for their employees that will be beneficial for their specific job demands. The hope is to eliminate some of the work-related injuries that happen in order to reduce loss of profit for their company. We will be putting together a video of these stretches and then coming back to make a formal presentation to the supervisors and educating them on key points to look for to ensure appropriate safety and mechanics of each movement.

I’ve realized that the rural setting often brings physical therapists into more “regional” roles where they can help be a part of the larger community, including the clinic, schools, and businesses. So far it has been a great start to a wonderful internship with Orthopedic & Spine Therapy!

Even Jack Link’s is on board with the effectiveness and power of physical therapy!
