    Jesse's Bio:
I graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and am now in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program here at CSS. I played on the baseball team at CSS for four years. I was also a statistics tutor and currently work as personal care assistant in Duluth. I love the outdoors, hunting fishing, hiking, etc. While being at St. Scholastica I have noticed the “family” atmosphere and I am truly enjoying every second of it.

DPT Assistive Device Competency

As you can see from the picture below, the current 1st year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students are beginning their unit on assistive device training. Here they are educating one another (as PT and patient) on how to appropriately use the devices and how to safely use them on the stairs. This is always a fun unit in the DPT program because it is hands on and extremely applicable to the real-world.

The 1st years will be completing their Assistive Device Competencies (skill checks) this Thursday making sure that they can appropriately educate, demonstrate, and perform the use of assistive devices. Some of the devices the students will be competent in educating patients on will be Lofstrand crutches, crutches, quad canes, standard-end canes, front-wheeled walkers, four-wheeled walkers, and hemi-walkers.
