Ash Wednesday – Lent

This past Wednesday started the 46 day Liturgical season of Lent. For those of you who do not know, it is a 40 day fast, that don’t include Sundays because they are considered Feast days. Ash Wednesday and every Friday during Lent we are supposed to abstain from meat…I bought a lot of fish so I won’t have any problems. The 40 days represent the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert fasting and denied the temptations of the devil. Campus Ministry held a Ash Wednesday mass that filled the chapel. I got as many baseball guys as possible to go and my roommate and I were there as well. The photo below is of Ben Lindquist and I after mass.

I decided for Lent I was going to work on my college style language – swearing, I am also giving up using my phone for anything besides e-mail, text messages, and phone calls…basically no facebook, snapchatting, temple running, or bike race…the 4 major tools of my procrastination. I am also going to bump up my prayer life this Lent.

Best of luck to everyone and their Lenten fasts.
