Elevator Speech
On our lunch break at the VA today some people came in to talk about new wheelchairs and how this company would like to become a sales vendor for the VA. Although they were given about 20 minutes to give their elevator speech, it was interesting to watch how they focused their speech towards the VA and how it their product can be an effective tool for veterans to have. This experience brought forth the culminating idea that even though we all want people to get better, healthcare is still some what of a business. As much as I like to think that money shouldn’t be an issue regarding getting the most up to date and accurate care available, many times it does. It was a very good learning experience. I also get to help teach a range of motion class to some nurses tomorrow at 6:00 A.M. (yikes…) for patients that are unable to move their limbs for prolonged periods of time, making sure they still have adequate motion in each joint.
