    Jin's Bio:
Hi, there! I'm Jin, and I am a passionate, talkative, dessert fanatic. Poems, good books, coconut water, and action movies make me happy. If we ever meet in person, you'll definitely hear me before you see me. You'll want to ask how many energy drinks I've had, but the answer will always be zero.

New Year, Probably a Very Similar Me

New Year’s Day was two days ago, and I honestly wish I could say all the wonderful things that people are used to saying during this time of the year: “It’s going to be a great year!” “I have made new resolutions for this year!” “The old is gone, and the new is here!” “New year, new me!”

But, really, I’m going to be honest here. It’s a new year, but I’m the same person. I don’t make new year’s resolutions or commit to exercising more or eating healthier–I tell myself the same things every day, even when I’m not celebrating a new year. But what bringing in Year 2017 does do is that it makes me think about the things that I did or didn’t do in 2016 that I would prefer to happen (or, mainly, not happen) again.

In the new year, I would prefer not to slack off during the week and stress out working on five essays and three projects the weekend before they’re due.

I would prefer not to spend time with people who make me feel self-conscious about myself.

I would prefer to make a habit of going to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time every single day.

I would prefer to make more breakfast smoothies for myself in the morning, instead of grabbing a package of Pop-Tarts (that I don’t even like anyway).

There will definitely be better decisions made on my part this year, but I also know that the reality is that those decisions won’t make me a completely different person. For the most part, I like me. And I know that I will probably make even more mistakes this year than I did last year.

So I’ll make another list of preferences come next year.
