    Jin's Bio:
Hi, there! I'm Jin, and I am a passionate, talkative, dessert fanatic. Poems, good books, coconut water, and action movies make me happy. If we ever meet in person, you'll definitely hear me before you see me. You'll want to ask how many energy drinks I've had, but the answer will always be zero.

Diversity Convention in Chicago

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion funds an annual trip to Chicago for students who are involved in the Center for Just Living and/or in social justice clubs on campus. The National Student Leadership Diversity Convention is held at a college campus in Chicago and features various inspirations speakers who are powerful advocates of diversity and social justice leadership. There are also engaging workshops throughout the weekend of the convention that students can attend to learn about leadership skills, organizing effective social change on campuses around the country, and how to appreciate and cultivate diversity in our social circles.

When I went to my first NSLDC convention, I was looking forward to spending some quality time with the 15 other students who were going on the trip. I wasn’t looking forward to the 4 hour drive, but when I was the designated driver, I realized that those 4 hours were some of the most valuable hours of bonding and getting to know the people of the Center for Just Living that I interacted with on a daily basis.

In Chicago, we explored the city after the convention workshops, visited the silver bean sculpture, ate Chicago-style pizza, and really got to enjoy the freedom of being a young, passionate group of students.
